Question for American women...?

Why do you think a (American) mother would name her newborn daughter an unusual name like "Periwinkle?" (I LOVE that name myself (lol.) It's just so unusual.)

No negative answers please. If you like negativity please don't answer this question or any other from me. Thank you.

And thanks to all who answer, for answering.

Question for American women...?
I have no idea why she would do that, maybe she liked the color, or wants her daughter to have a unique name.

Reply:It's just another way to give some uniqueness to their child in a world that seems to be homogenizing by the minute.
Reply:Maybe she is a black women. They usually give their children exotic names. It could be a name of a rapper they listen too.
Reply:In a country full of Ambers, Taras, Tiffanys and the like, why NOT give your kid a name that stands out? With a name like Periwinkle, there is no doubt that she will NEVER be confused for somebody else, unless she has a twin.
Reply:I guess because in America we embrace individuality.I went to school with a girl named Morningglory Fire.I be hard pressed to find anything more unusaul but really isnt that a beautiful name? Her parents were hippies.
