Unknown sex of baby...baby shower ideas???

My cousin is having a baby in april and I am throwing her a baby shower. The sex is unknown, so what ideas do you have for a fun creative baby shower. I have already chosen the main color of the shower which will be a custard yellow with hints of sage green, baby pink and periwinkle blue. Any ideas for games, food, favors, decor, etc, will be welcomed. Oh and wording of the invite since the sex is unknown.

Unknown sex of baby...baby shower ideas???
Make a wedding cake out of diapers. You take a diaper, roll it up like a crape and tie a bow around it......stack them upright, the first being in the center and then the others forming a circle around it. Make it as wide as you want and then make three more tiers like a wedding cake! Tape little rattles and teethers on it and then top it with a bottle. It will be both useful and cute!
Reply:Describe the sex of the baby as a SURPRISE. I suggest a rubber ducky theme - they make really cute paper cups/plates/napkins, etc. with ducks on them as well as green, pink, and blue. We did baby bingo at mine, and the clothespin game where you can't say baby or you have to give your clothespin to whoever catches you saying it. Whoever has the most at the end wins.
Reply:games:

Guess the poop in the diaper, where you get some diapers and crush some chocolate candy bars or pudding anything that may look like poop and put it in the diaper and let them guess what the candy is

Safety pin game where you cant cross anything at all like your legs your arms your fingers any body parts even your eyes

Bottle drinking contest where you get some bottles and fill them with juice and then you see how fast they can drink the juice out of the bottle

Baby food game where you get some baby food but take the label off and number the jar and label and let people taste the baby food and try to guess what it is

and how big is the mom to be belly you take a coil of string like some yarn and they have to guess how long around the mom's belly is without going up to her and touching her until they have cut the sting but they cant go over they have to be close to touching the strings together they cant overlap

Well I really hope that this helps and I know that it is a lot but it is very fun

Reply:I'm not sure what wording you'll want to use on the main invitation. But the best suggestion I was given was to tell people, in the invite, to give children's books instead of cards with their gifts. Children's books are very expensive for mom and dad to buy. This is a wonderful way to stock the baby's shelf with great books! Here are some poems you can use for that idea:

--------------------------------------...

As (Mother to be's name) due date is coming near,

We're inviting friends and family dear.

To choose a favorite story or fairy tale

That you would like Baby ________ to hear.

Instead of a card, please let (mother to be's name) look,

At your special choice of a book,

and then to Baby __________ she will read

With all the love a newborn will need.

So with a personal touch, please choose a book

And in it then your name do put.

It need not cost more than a card

Just pick a favorite, it shouldn't be hard.

--------------------------------------...

Although cards are nice

They're read once or twice

Maybe three or four times at best

A book is a treasure

Forever and Forever

So instead of a card

To be put aside

Please give the little baby

A book with your name inside

It will be read to our little tyke

Before bed each night

And we will thank you

Forever and forever!

--------------------------------------...

A card is nice, its sentiment sweet,

But a book will keep baby on her feet.

For years to come, baby will read

Longing for stories will never be a need.

A shelf full of wisdom for all to give,

For baby to keep as long as she shall live.

Filling the shelf should not be hard,

If you would please sign a book instead of a card
Reply:Baby Smith (Smith being whatever last name the baby will have).

Normal babyshower games will work, you know not being able to say a certain word and guessing the day of babies arrival. Good Luck
Reply:try making the theme about ducks. plus ducks are yellow which can go for both girl and boy!!
Reply:get something that both sexs can wear. For the decorations do blue and pink. that would be pretty! As for the food.... little finger foods and things of that sort.
Reply:We played two very fun games at my baby shower....one was Break my water, you freeze small plastic babies in ice cubes and then see who can get the baby out the ice cube fastest(you can get the little babies at any party store) and if you have men at the shower you can get balloons and blow them up and have the men put them under their shirts and see who can tie their shoe the fastest without popping their "baby" it was funny to see all the men at my shower try to do this. Also for favors we bought little mini favor baby bottles(from walmart) and filled them up with little pacifier candies and tied ribbon and a thank you note to the top. Hope this helped!
Reply:why not wait until a month after baby is born? thats when the girls threw mine. also in some cultures it's considered bad luck to throw a baby shower before the baby has arrived.

baby word crosswords and scrambles are fun :)
Reply:GAMES- Give every body a safety pen or bobby pin whatever they are called, and throughout the shower, if someone sees another person crossing their legs, they steel their pen. At the end of the night, whoever has the most pins wins a prize. Or you can tell every1 to guess how many sheets of toilet paper will it take to go around her belly...whoever was the closests wins.

FOOD-just finger foods mainly. Make a cute cake and put a bottle or something on it, or make it a diaper or bottle shape, little sandwiches, chips n dip etc,

DECOR-Just put balloons, cloths on table, every one can drink outta baby bottles (take the lid off tho lol).

On the invite just tell the people that the sex is undetermined, to get something unisex for either male or female.
Reply:You could play a game that involves everyone answering on a piece of paper questions about the baby. Such as boy or girl, color of hair, color of eyes, birth date, birth time, weight and length, and name suggestions, advice to new parents, etc. Then have them write their names and seal them all in a big envelope. This can be something the expecting couple can take to the hospital and read while waiting through labor. This will humor them and relieve some stress. They did this for my moms shower when she was pregnant with me and I want to do the same thing. It is funny to read if people were close in their guessing. On the invites and games you might be able to find suggestions online at this website I listed
Reply:on the invites make your own on the computer. you can make you own colors and designs. as for games and things like that just have fun make up your own.
Reply:How about Elmo or Barny?
Reply:Check out babyshowergames.com
Reply:I had a shower where the guest wrote down what day they thought my baby would arrive the sex of baby and weight/height. It was fun to see how close people where when my son was born. Also there was a game where you take baby diapers and melt diff rent candy bars to look like baby poop (strange i know) and people have to sniff and write down what they think the candy bar is. A lot people thought this was a creative and fun game. Good luck with your plans!
Reply:the best unique color id say its yellow, or light green..they are beautiful and works really nice with white color...

=)if ur plannin 2have ballons..try(white and light green or white and yellow)
